Q. How do I find trends in my industry or field?

The best way to complete the trends assignment is to use Google to find trends, then use the library to research the trends that you found.

Search Google using the word trends plus your profession, for example:

• trends health care
• trends cybersecurity
• trends law enforcement

Using Google that way, you'll find lots of sources that list top trends for your profession.

For example, in health care, you might find that a trend is electronic health records.

Then, you can then put those keywords into our OneSearch database (the search box in the middle of our library home page at https://libguides.umgc.edu/home). Sometimes including the word trend is helpful, sometimes not. Try it both ways.

Identify trends first via Google, then search the library for the specific trends you found: that's the key!
